Dark Chocolate Cake
Actually, we went to Ben's at Linc and Abang Affan looking forward for the dark chocolate cake. However, the cashier seems unprofessional as the cake we ordered IS BOOKED by others previously.
We went to several cafes but disappointingly, no dark chocolate cake. Hence, I googled the recipe and this Hershey's Especially Dark Chocolate Cake looks sooo tempting. The only problem is to find this delicious chocolate powder.
I always believe a tasty chocolate cake lays on the chocolate used. If the chocolate is yummy, then the outcome will be super delicious. But, if otherwise, naah, say goodbye, fellas! I bought in from Jaya Grocer online store on the dot but to my knowledge, actually Tesco Ampang has this in the store.
Without further adieu, presenting:
My own version of dark chocolate cake.
Ingredients:
2 cups granulated sugar
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup of milk
1/2 cup of vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
FROSTING:
1/2 cup margarine
2/3 cup HERSHEY'S COCOA
1 1/2 cup icing sugar
1/3 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
a pinch of gold dust
Methods:
1. Preheat oven to 175C. Grease the baking pans.
2. Stir sugar with flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl. Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer, on medium speed, for 2 minutes, Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).
3. Bake for 30-35 minutes until wooden pick inserted comes out clean. Move cake from pan to cool down.
4. Frosting: Melt butter and stir in cocoa. Alternately add icing sugar and milk until smooth. Add additional milk, a bit at a time, until a spreadable consistency is reached, stir in vanilla, Frost cooled cake and sprinkle the gold dust as the finishing.
